12 Things Successful People Do Differently

If you are someone who aspires to be successful, to make a difference in your life and others’ lives then this is the article to be reading! Use this as a guide to sort of help you compare what you’re doing in your life to what successful people do it theirs. In turn, I sincerely hope these tips can benefit you in modeling successful habits and acquiring the life you desire! So here are the 12 things that successful people practice in their everyday lives:

1. Create and pursue focused goals.

The key word to this one is pursue. Yes, making goals is the first steps to being successful, knowing what you want helps. But you can’t just know and not take the proper action, the proper pursuit to making those goals happen and expect success to just knock on your door one day. It doesn’t work that way. So make sure you are taking the necessary steps to achieving your goals!

2. Take decisive and immediate action.

Do not just take action. Take decisive and immediate. Why? Because waiting a month or even a week to start working towards your goals instills the thoughts and habits into your brain to procrastinate. We only have so much time on this lovely Earth of ours, so don’t wait until it is too late to start pursuing!

3. Focus on being productive, not busy.

This is definitely a big one. A lot of people go through their day and they’re just busy. They took an hour cleaning the kitchen or they went on an unnecessary grocery run…NO. This is called being busy. They didn’t actually accomplish the things they need in making progress with those goals of theirs. Yes, you need to make time to do house cleaning and buy groceries but if you start filling your day with unnecessary tasks that have nothing to do with your success, you won’t accomplish what’s really important. The best way to know what you should be getting done in one and what’s

The best way to know what you should be getting done in one and what’s productive work vs what’s busy work is to plan out your week. Write it all down. Fill your day with productivity but also make time for that extra busy work as well! I personally keep a whiteboard and write down all the things I want to accomplish every day, then leave some time for that busy work on a Sunday maybe. That whiteboard of tasks is definitely a life saver with keeping me on track!

4. Make logical, informed decisions.

This one goes along with those other decision-making points. When you are working towards being successful and achieving your dreams, it’s very important to know a lot about the things you’re trying to reach. Knowledge is a very important resource to climbing that ladder of success. In turn, the more you know about your goals, the easier it will be to make these logical, informed decisions instead of just jumping into a hot tub of water. The more you know, the quicker and easier it will be for you to succeed!

5. Avoid the trap of trying to make things perfect.

If you’re a perfectionist like me, this one is so easy to fall down to. Always, always, always be open to improvements and advice and critique on what you’re doing! However, know that most things don’t turn out to be perfectly how you envisioned and THAT’S OKAY. Imperfection is what makes your journey to success great! It challenges you to find those little glitches in your work and make them your advantage. Plus, trying to perfect everything will only waste time precious time you have!

6. Work outside of their comfort zone.

This is one cliche that just can’t be stressed enough! I see it all the time where people pick the safe or convenient job because the other one is faulty of making them work hard and improve upon every aspect of their lives. Do not let this happen to your life. DO NOT. When a lot of people make goals and have dreams, they don’t think about the beautiful struggle that comes w

7. Keep things simple.

The journey to achieving success and accomplishing your goals is a process that involves lots of hard work. That we all know. Once you get to the point where you’re devoting your life to your work, it’s important to make the other aspects of your life more simplistic. Especially those things that aren’t as important or petty. Keep those aspects of your life simple and care-free! In general, following the “keep things simple” principle will help you maintain stress and frustration that may come with being successful.

8. Focus on making small, continuous improvements.

This is a great habit to have because, for one, it allows you to reflect on your mistakes or what you could do differently in the process of achieving. Implementing this step also means that you’ve accepted the fact that you can’t be perfect, that the process isn’t perfect. Once you’ve done that, it takes a lot of stress off of the idea that perfection is the way to achieve and that’s not true. Overall, this step allows you to develop the flexibility you need to obtaining success!

9. Measure and track their progress.

Just like you need to focus on making small improvements to your work, it’s important to measure the progress you’ve made. This step helps with organization, planning and gaining confidence when you see how far you’ve come!

10. Maintain a positive attitude as they learn from their mistakes.

It can be hard to hear the word “no” or end up stuck because things didn’t go as planned. However, what makes it harder to attaining progress is when you let the bumps in the road bring your spirit and confidence in your work down. That is the last thing you want to do when faced with adversity. The most successful people didn’t get to that place by giving up during the harder times. They took those experiences and learned from them which is exactly what you need to do too! If you make mistakes in your work, take responsibility for them but also know that IT IS OKAY!

11. Spend time with motivational people.

The law of attraction holds true with this one. The people you surround yourself with affect your life on so many levels. If you’re constantly around negativity and those who don’t support your journey, then it’s going to be hard for you yourself to continue on with it. The best people to have in your life are the motivators. They’re the lovers and supporters of the world that emit the type of energy you need for getting things done!

12. Maintain balance in their life.

Again, the road to success is no walk in the park. Sometimes we’re faced with hardships and downfalls and struggled to balance work with our family with our social life and other work. It can be very tiring and frustrating! This is where it becomes helpful to make and plan and use effective time management skills…something we all could work on! There are so many different methods out there to staying organized, keeping track of time, and dividing that time to your highest of needs. Write things down, keep sticky notes with daily reminders, use the countless apps on your smartphone! It doesn’t matter what method you use. Just know that maintaining and balancing all the different aspects of your life is so crucial to being successful. Once you figure out what works for you, the rewards in achieving are invaluable!
